A tale of 2 Sebeka's, part 1- Sebeka Shiraz from South Africa
Not even a week ago, I was introduced to a wine that was so good, I'm contemplating adding it to my list of "Top Choices." The wine was a tasty Shiraz from South Africa, brought to us by the people at Sebeka
winery.
This wine was smooth and seemed to get better with every sip. I enjoyed it on its own, and also with some awesome homemade Teriyaki chicken wings (happy to share the recipe). I've tried a lot of mediocre wines lately, and it was great to finally find a new budget bottle that tasted great.
Fellow wine bloggers at Box Wines liked this wine, but not as much me it seems. Read their review here.
When at the store the other day, I picked up a bottle of Sebeka's other offering- a Cabernet Pinotage. I am definitely curious whether it will live up to the quality of the Shiraz...Review of this wine to follow...Keep posted.
Recommendation: Definitely buy it.

I just tried their chardonnay and was rather unimpressed. It had a very thick mouth-feel. However, I always like a nice Shiraz...

I recently went to a wine dinner and the last course paired various truffles with Wyndham Estate Bin 555 Sparkling Shiraz. I haven't tried the South African wine you are referring to, but I can tell you this one was delicious! Maybe your next move should be to try a sparkling Shiraz . . .

In Ralphs the other day and my fiance came up and asked if I wanted to try this bottle...
She had the Sebeka in hand! I grabbed the Pinotage and the Shiraz... trying them tonight.

Jeff,
Awesome that you bought the Sebeka's. Definitely curious which one you like better. My vote is definitely for the Cabernet Pinotage.
As a heads up, this week ill be reviewing this great italian wine I bought at Trader Joes for $3.99. It's the Archero Sicilia Nero D'Avola Russeo di Tasso. If you have a Trader Joe's nearby, give this one a look. My review to follow...

My girlfriend & I went to a local liquor store saw this cool looking bottle of wine -Sabeka Shiraz 2005, with a picture of a cheetah. I thought why not try it. It was $11.99 and well worth it. I had a few sips and I was hooked. It had a great taste, smooth, deep and slightly woody. I had to get it again.

I sadly bought the shiraz because I really liked the label on the bottle. I have to say that with every sip..I really loved it more. It is now one of my favorites.

Drinkin some Sebeka shiraz now. Not thick like I was expecting. My lasagne florentine is almost ready, think the shiraz will complement it nicely.

Let this one breathe a bit and it really shines. Few wines in this price point even come close, some twice the price that aren't this full bodied and enjoyable. One of my new faves!
